First off on the list – Sardine Stew.
Shopping List
- Sardines
- Shallots
- Spinach
- Salt (or Soy sauce)
- Saffron (or Sriracha) – optional
- Sun dried tomato sauce
- Squash
- Sunflower seedoil
- Spices
- Sprouts
- Spaghetti
Recipe suggestion
- Sautée sliced shallots in sunflower seedoil in a saucepan
- Sear sardines in the saucepan with the sauteeing shallots
- Spray some saffron (or sriracha) over the sardines – if using sriracha be careful because it is hot stuff!
- Scoop sun-dried tomato sauce, sprouts, and squash into the saucepan
- Sprinkle salt, scatter some spinach, and stir with a spatula (or spoon)
- Sizzle the stew on the stove on a slight heat setting for seventeen minutes
- Simmer spaghetti in a second saucepan until it is soft and stringy
- Strain out the starchy water from the spaghetti
- Serve the sardine stew on saucers with spaghetti as a side dish
Substitutes: Get creative!
If you don’t like sardines, you can substitute with sausages, or shrimps or simply use sprouts and squash for a vegetarian menu if preferred.
