The Young Queen
On 21 April 2022, Queen Elizabeth II turned 96 years old. ๐๐๐๐๐
Iโm sure our Queen has inspired you to know that just like her you can do good for yourself and for others. Here’s a glimpse into her early life.
In 1953, Queen Elizabeth II was crowned Queen of England and other realms.
Queen Elizabeth II became queen at the age of 25. Growing up, she had a fun childhood playing with her sister Margaret in a large house in London. Unlike most children, she and her sister did not go to school but were taught at home by a governess. As a child, the Queen was described as a cheeky little girl who liked to pull the occasional prank.
Her Tween and Early Teenage Years
But by the age of 11, she began to mature and realised it was time to broaden her educational knowledge by studying something very close and dear to her heart, European history. But something disrupted her learning and this was the second world war which began in 1939.
Family Life During the War
Whilst the war was ongoing, it was proposed that Elizabeth and Margaret should be evacuated to Canada. But her mother wouldnโt allow anything of the sort to happen; she said, โThe children will never go anywhere without me. I wonโt leave the king. And the king wonโt leave.โ And in the end, it was decided that they should stay. Although this resulted in them moving from house to house: first staying in Balmoral, followed by Sandringham and then Windsor.
Teenage Training and Achievements
In July 1944 (just before her 18th birthday) she went to the Italian battlefields; she later trained as a driver and mechanic and by the end of the course was an intelligent driver and clever mechanic.
